I am a nursery owner and I totally agree with the National Day Nurseries Association that the method by which the childcare tax credit element of Working Families Tax Credit is being administered is not in favour of nurseries (News, 11 January). I feel the money should be paid directly to the nursery or childcare provider. I too have had a number of parents who receive it but have not paid me childcare costs, including a parent with two children who at one stage owed in excess of £3,000 because payments were sent to their employer through the wage system....
