I wonder just how the Government's proposed star ratings for childcare (News,29 March) will be measured. Will there be a league table? Will we be judged on the quality of our carpets or our cuddles, where the children in our care are on the centile charts for height or weight, perhaps even how the children perform in their development checks? Or will stars be given for the carers' academic qualifications?
