More time to seek out-of-school funds

The New Opportunities Fund has extended the deadline for applications to its out-of-school hours childcare programme to enable it to allocate the full amount of £220m earmarked for the scheme by 2003. Since the UK-wide programme was launched in March 1999 more than £160m has been invested in out-of-school childcare by the NOF, including the latest round of grants - totalling just under £29m - announced last week.
