Get children in the habit of exploring, observing and recording their environment as they embark on a new project with activities from Jean Evans This four-part project on 'My Neighbourhood' starts with the immediate surroundings of the nursery and gradually extends into the wider environment and finally into the fictional world of Mairi Hedderwick's fictional creation, Katie Morag, with a wonderful poster specially drawn by Mairi herself, free with Nursery World on 29 March. 'My Neighbourhood' covers all six areas of learning and is an excellent project through which to develop children's observational skills.
