A Government survey on smoking has found a high level of awareness about the effects of passive smoking. Ninety per cent of respondents to the survey said they thought a child's risk of getting a chest infection was increased by passive smoking. Just over two-thirds (67 per cent) of smokers said they do not smoke at all when they are in a room with a child and 25 per cent said they would smoke fewer cigarettes in the presence of a child.
