Guidance on benefits and tax credits for anyone expecting a baby or bringing up children has been issued by the Department for Work and Pensions. Babies and Children BC1 outlines entitlement to a range of benefits including statutory maternity and paternity pay, maternity allowance, Sure Start maternity grants and the New Deal for lone parents. Bringing Up Children BC3 gives information on claiming child benefit, child support maintenance, Working Families Tax Credit and income support.
