Safety of the MMR jab in Scotland
Nursery World,
14 February 2002
A report on the safety of the MMR jab in Scotland will be delayed because of the time-consuming work involved in collecting evidence from as wide a range of sources as possible, the Scottish Executive said last week. An expert group set up by the Executive to investigate the triple measles, mumps and rubella vaccine was due to publish its findings this month, but delays in obtaining additional evidence has meant the report will not be available for another few weeks. The debate on the MMRvaccine has been re-ignited by outbreaks of measles in areas where immunisation rates are low.
