Welcome to the Winter edition of Training Today - and what a year it has been. As we report on pages 4 and 5, despite the early years sector's continued expansion, little progress appears to have been made towards the creation of a Sector Skills Council for the sector. In the meantime the Government has introduced APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experience in Learning) to 'fast track' experienced practitioners to a Level 3 qualification and appointed A4e to train the early years workforce.
