National Parents' Week this week has been marked by the publication of several reports into family life today in the UK, including Making Britain Family Friendly from the National Family and Parenting Institute (see News, page 9). Its conclusion is that our society is still far from welcoming and accepting of children and young people. Increased rights for flexible working were also seen as a priority by parents. There is no doubt that despite progress in recent years, there is still a long way to go in all sorts of areas. Two long-running campaigns for legislative change are relevant here...
