Nursery World,
30 October 2003
The first director general for children and families in England has been named as Tom Jeffery. He will lead the new directorate at the Department for Education and Skills, which was formed after the transfer of responsibilities for policies on children and families to the DfES in June. Mr Jeffery said, 'We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure lasting change for children and families. I look forward to working with colleagues across Government, in children's services and in the voluntary sector to make a reality of the vision set out in the recent Green Paper.'
