A few years ago it would have been hard to imagine a Labour Party conference where the Prime Minister, the Chancellor and the education secretary all made childcare a major theme of their speeches. Now, in the run-up to the next general election, and with the publication of the ten-year strategy for childcare set for November, it is obvious just how important an issue this is for the Government (see News, page 4).
