Forget using air freshener to banish the sweet smell of a newborn baby's over-active digestive system. The Times reported that it could have the opposite effect and cause diarrhoea in children. The Daily Mail linked resistance to tummy trouble and allergies with the birth canal, claiming research found that babies born by Caesarean section were twice as likely to develop these problems.
