In response to 'Tailored training' (Letters, 11 May), I fully support Judith Baxter's comments about the current qualification structure. I have been the owner and manager of a rural pre-school playgroup since 1997. I initially studied for the Pre-school Learning Alliance Diploma in Pre-school Practice and have just completed five years part-time study to achieve a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies. However, I am now 'advised' that qualified teacher status would be beneficial to both my career and personal development.
