With tough trading conditions, Government competition hitting occupancy rates and a run of negative national news stories, the private nursery sector is in need of some cheer! So it's great to be able to report that nursery chain Child Base put its training and development programme Sound Foundations up for evaluation by renowned academic Professor Edward Melhuish, who found that it had a positive effect on quality in the group's settings (see News, page 4).
