For Vicki Nethercoat, taking a picture of her one-year-old daughter Jasmin prevented blindness. An unusual sparkle in the child's eye in the photograph prompted her to investigate further, reported The Sun. Doctors diagnosed a retinoblastoma, and immediately referred her to Great Ormond Street Hospital for surgery. The high number of child accidents could be lowered by better attention to Department of Health recommendations made back in 2001, The Guardian said.
