Next month, the Government begins a double advertising and marketing drive about early years education and childcare. On the one hand, it is renewing its efforts to persuade more people, particularly those from ethnic minorities and men, that working with pre-school children is a rewarding career (see News, page 4). On the other hand, it is to run a campaign promoting the benefits and take-up of formal childcare among lower-income families. So it is striving to increase the demand for childcare while it is still trawling to find enough people to fill the jobs providing childcare. Hmm... doesn't seem to...
