Employers are going to have to carry the can for ensuring that any au pairs or nannies from abroad they hire are legit. The Government's Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Bill would impose sharp penalties on anyone found employing an illegal immigrant, with on-the-spot fines and possible imprisonment.
