Ofsted to take on social services

The remit of Ofsted could be extended to become the single inspectorate for children and learners, under plans put out for consultation by the Government last week. The consultation proposes that Ofsted would assume responsibility for the children's work of the Commission for Social Care Inspection and the inspection of services provided by the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service.
