Earlier this month Catherine Ashton, Sure Start minister, who is responsible for early years and childcare in England, spoke of her vision for Britain's early years workforce. She told the Education and Skills Select Committee that what the Government has got to offer people who work in the childcare sector 'is the opportunity to develop and grow their qualifications'.
