The Light Blanket

Nursery World, 20 February 2003

(Photograph) - Children who find it difficult to sleep in the dark may have sweeter dreams thanks to this illuminated blanket, on display at the Science Museum in London. The Light Blanket, designed by James McAdam of Godalming in Surrey, reacts to children's movements with a series of subtle colours and patterns controlled by a microprocessor linked through movement sensors in the material. Its low voltage and cool light sources mean the blanket is both safe and machine-washable. Photo by PA Photos
