Child protection system in Scotland may be replaced

The child protection system in Scotland will be replaced if it continues to fail children who are at risk of abuse, First Minister Jack McConnell warned last week. He was addressing a meeting in Glasgow of local authority, health, police and voluntary sector representatives following a review of the system which found that half of all children at risk or neglect were not adequately protected or cared for.
