New rules on age ratios are relaxed

The National Childminding Association (NCMA) has secured assurances from the DfES that plans to change the adult:child ratios for childminders set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage consultation document will not be implemented. Childminders had expressed concern at the definition of 'young' as any child 'up until 1 September following his or her fifth birthday'. They feared this would mean reception class children falling within this group.
