Changes to a Foundation Stageearly learning goal are also out for consultation by the DfES, following recommendations in the Rose review into the teaching of early reading. An amendment replaces 'Hear and say initial and final sounds in words, and short sounds within words' with the new early learning goal, 'Hear and say sounds in words in the order in which they occur.'
