Reprieve for oldest nursery

The oldest-known nursery in central London has had a last-minute reprieve from closure. King's College London has stepped in to save the Kingsway Children's Centre in Holborn, which had expected to close by Christmas unless it found new accommodation before the end of the year. The College negotiated on the nursery's behalf with its landlord, Kensington College of Business, after the college decided on a fivefold increase in rent from £4.50 to £25 per square foot.
