New child poverty moves demanded

Britain needs 'a cohesive strategy' to reach the UK's poorest and most vulnerable children, the charity Barnardo's said last week. At the start of its four-week 'Silver Spoons' advertisement campaign, Barnardo's said it was aiming 'to highlight the fact that despite having the fourth-largest economy in the world, the UK has one of the highest levels of child poverty of all industrialised countries'. One in three children in the UK lives in poverty, it said.
