The tabloids were in uproar last week when it emerged that three sisters from Derby, aged 12, 14 and 16, had given birth within months of each other. The Sun dubbed them the 'kid sisters', while the Daily Mail described them as 'a baby factory'. Children's minister Beverley Hughes said the Government had 'reached a sticking point' over teenage pregnancy and could do no more without more input from parents. But The Guardian said family planning advisors criticised it for a lack of sex education in schools.
