Provision for autisticchildren is 'shocking and appalling'
Nursery World,
21 September 2006
Provision for autisticchildren is 'shocking and appalling', said children's commissioner Al Aynsley-Green after meeting children and parents from the National Autistic Society. The charity estimates that 90,000 children are affected with autistic disorders and yet there are less than 8,000 specialist places available. Lord Adonis, the schools minister, said, 'We accept that more needs to be done. We are going through another spending review and we will look to see what further we can do so every child on the autism spectrum gets the support they need.'
