I had to respond to Helen Penn's column ('To the point', 14 September) where she considers 'what mutual trust between children and adults can do for social behaviour'. A significant theme throughout my Early Childhood Studies degree was that what works in one place cannot necessarily be used as a prescription in another, because of the different context, different people, different resources, and so on.
