Caring experience

Reading the 11 January Nursery World, there are two things which prompt me to write in. First, I cannot understand why the lead news story on the new Early Years Foundation Stage framework quotes an un-named early years consultant bemoaning the fact that the Government 'is moving to more of a care context, rather than one that provides quality of learning'. Such a move, if the faceless consultant's interpretation is correct, will be welcomed by most practitioners, who feel that there is far too much emphasis placed on formal learning far too early. God save us from consultants!
