Nursery nurses and classroom assistants are among more than a million public sector workers expected to take part in a one-day strike on 28 March. Members of nine trade unions, including Unison and the NUT, have voted to walk out over plans to cut the Local Government Pension Scheme. Three-quarters of the scheme members are women and their average pension is just £31 a week, according to Unison.
