Out-of-school care fuels rise in use of formal childcare

The popularity of breakfast and after-school clubs is swelling the rise in the use of formal childcare, according to Government-commissioned research. The National Centre for Social Research's latest Childcare and Early Years Survey found that the proportion of families using breakfast and after-school clubs doubled between 2001 and 2004.
