Tips from Montessori

As a Montessori directress I introduce the alphabet phonetically and then start forming consonant-vowel-consonant words, for example 'hat'. We then proceed on to more complex phonetic words, for example 'frog' and 'clip', and then introduce look-and-say words. Meanwhile the child is made aware of capital letters, full stops, basic sentence structures and exposed to books. This is done through hands-on exercises, individually or in small groups.
