MMR vaccine in Scotland

Parents who have decided to have their children given the combined MMR vaccine have been commended by the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mac Armstrong, as new figures showed the rate of uptake is holding above 86 per cent in Scotland. But he repeated his warning that low rates of vaccination against measles, mumps and rubella could result in an outbreak of the potentially fatal diseases. Dr Armstrong said, 'Prevention is always better than cure. For many parents in the current climate, this is a courageous decision and one which is good for their child and those around them.'
