Nannies and maternity
Nursery World,
28 March 2002
Nannies who have been in a job for a certain length of time and become pregnant are entitled to maternity leave and maternity pay like other employees. Their employers can claim back the maternity pay from the state. You can find out details from your local Employment Service Jobcentre or from the website of the Department of Trade and Industry at www.dti.gov.uk/er/maternity.htm. Basic details are given in the leaflet Maternity rights: a short guide for employers and employees (PL507) on the website or by calling DTI Publications on 0870 1502 500.
