All registered daycare providers in Wales come under a new inspection body from next week. From Monday, 1 April, all registered provision for children under the age of eight will be regulated by the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales and daycare services for under-eights will come under new national standards. As well as daycare, the Inspectorate will regulate social care services, and independent and voluntary healthcare services in Wales, being responsible for day nurseries, playgroups and childminders as well as children's homes, boarding schools and special schools, residential family centres, independent fostering agencies, and care homes for adults.
