Nursery staff take action to save jobs

Special needs nursery officers have balloted for industrial action against Lancashire County Council in a final bid to save their service. The nine nursery officers provide care, therapy and diagnosis for under-fives who have special needs, working within a multi-disciplinary team. The council 'disestablished' their posts at six child development centres last February following a budget review (News, 27 July). They received redeployment letters last month.
