Providers feel driven to quit

Ten per cent of private and voluntary providers are considering pulling out of offering free nursery education because they are unable to meet their costs, according to a survey by the Pre-School Learning Alliance, which reveals the impact of the Government's code of practice on nursery education funding. The Alliance warns that where the nursery education grant does not meet providers' costs and sustainability is under threat, it could 'endanger the whole childcare strategy'.
