Early intervention centre is planned

A national centre for early intervention to help young disabled children and their families is being planned by the Government with the help of a feasibility study and a series of consultations. The mental health charity Mencap organised a consultation event at Milton Keynes last month that involved 93 parents, practitioners, researchers and representatives from a range of organisations to discuss the possible shape of a centre. A report of the planning day, which will contribute to the feasibility study, has been produced by the special educational needs and disability division of the Department for Education and Skills.
