Hodge unveils details of light-touch approval plan

Early years organisations have broadly welcomed the Government's new 'light touch' registration process for nannies and home-based childcarers, but they are concerned that it is not consistent with other forms of childcare regulation across England. Details of the voluntary Childcare Approval Scheme, the first to regulate home-based carers, were revealed by children's minister Margaret Hodge at a Sure Start conference in London last week.
