The first step towards a national pool of police information has been taken by the Home Office, with the launch of the I-PLX database in England and Wales, which increases access to local police information. It will add to the existing Criminal Records Bureau system of vetting applicants for jobs working with children and vulnerable adults. The CRB will cross-reference applications for Enhanced Disclosure against information on I-PLX.
