Fathers want to play a bigger role in caring for their children
Nursery World,
23 June 2005
Fathers want to play a bigger role in caring for their children, says a study, 'Dads and their Babies', from the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC). More than half of new fathers think two weeks paternity leave is not long enough and four in five believe paternity pay is too low. The EOC has called for greater shared parental leave rights in a child's first year. Meanwhile, Children in Scotland is working with the EOC on a three-year project called 'Children, Fathers and Fathering' to improve services and support in Scotland.
