Toybox Day Nursery in Boughton

Toybox Day Nursery in Boughton, Nottinghamshire, has secured a £10,000 development loan from Co-operative Action, an organisation promoting the development of co-operative, mutual and social enterprise ventures. Toybox started out as a local women's centre but launched as a day nursery in 2003. It specialises in affordable, low-cost childcare for the Retford Road and Hallam Road estates in a rural ex-coalfield community. Sarah Lees of Co-operative Action said, 'We were impressed by the community service that Toybox offers to an area that is struggling to cope with the decline of the traditional coal industry.'
