Two new voluntary aided schools in Wales were among 11 building projects announced last week by Welsh Assembly education minister Jane Davidson. Primary schools at Pontypool and Abersychan are to be completely rebuilt, while a 13-place nursery at St David's Church in Wales Primary in Colwinston in the Vale of Glamorgan has been given the go-ahead under the Voluntary Aided Schools Capital Grant Programme. There are 161 voluntary aided schools in Wales and the Assembly is supporting nearly 100 projects through an annual budget of £9.5m.
