Europe makes internet safer

Nursery World, 18 March 2004

* Hotlines to allow people to report child pornography, racism and unwanted and harmful content on the internet have received the backing of the European Commission (EU). The move is part of Safer Internet Plus, a £34m plan to run from 2005 to 2008. Its four action lines are to fight illegal content; to tackle unwanted and harmful content (including 'spam'); to promote a safer environment; and to make parents and teachers aware of the technology that is available to protect children when online.
