Free milk at lunchtime is to be extended to all primary school pupils in Glasgow in an initiative funded by the Scottish Executive's Hungry for Success programme. Glasgow City Council already offers free milk to pupils who buy a meal or snack under its Pick 'n' Mix initiative. From next month all 41,228 primary pupils will be offered milk whether they buy food or not under the initiative, which is expected to cost £56,000 in its first year. Education services convenor Steven Purcell said the council had been working hard to promote milk as a nutritious alternative to other drinks....
