A framework for the inspection of children's services in England is to be developed by Ofsted. A report called Every child matters: Next steps, published by the Department for Education and Skills earlier this month, said the framework's purpose was 'to ensure that inspections, reviews or investigations that relate to children's services properly evaluate and report on the extent to which children's services improve the wellbeing of children and young people'.
