Never mind the couch potatoes, now we should worry about the pushchair puds. Research published this month by Professor Jane Clark of the University of Maryland, USA, has found that babies and toddlers 'containerised' for long spells in pushchairs and car seats are at greater risk of obesity. It may be convenient for us to strap them in as we rush out, but it delays their physical development. The professor advises that young children should not be left sitting for more than an hour unless they're sleeping, and on long journeys they should be let out every 15 to 30...
