Cloth nappies
Nursery World,
25 March 2004
A £650,00, two-year scheme has been launched by the Scottish Executive to promote the use of cloth nappies. The Executive is committed to recycling and composting 25 per cent of municipal waste by 2006. Deputy environment minister Allan Wilson said, 'A significant element in the non-biodegradable waste sent to landfill is disposable nappies. I understand fully why people use disposable nappies. However, there is also a growing realisation that we need to do more to reduce waste. This initiative provides us with a viable and potentially economical way of doing this.'
