A new personal development programme offered by Sure Start Broadway in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham has boosted job prospects for local parents. Moving On encourages parents and carers to play a greater role in their community and to sharpen their writing, speaking, administration and computer skills. Out of the first 14 people to complete the course - 13 mothers and one grandmother - several have gone on to enrol in childcare courses and others are getting involved in local Sure Start programmes.
