The incredible pace of change within the early years and childcare sector is once again revealed in a major report this week (see News, page 4). But with its good news of continuing growth come warnings of 'saturation', 'doubts about sustainability' and 'difficult years' ahead. One reason for the dip in optimism is the falling birth rate, something that childcare providers are going to hear a lot more about in coming years.
